Illogic - "Aphextwin" Video {Prod. By Illogic}

New visuals have dropped for “Aphextwin” from Columbus, Ohio’s hip-hop mainstay Illogic this morning. The tight camera angle on the emcee/producer’s upper torso and hallucinogenic trail effects gives the video the same claustrophobic and cacophonous quality as the track. Speaking on the track Illogic said “I believe it represents the angst felt by all human beings right now in all aspects of existence. Angst felt not only due to politics but life in general, due to the current climate of the world.”

Self-produced by Illogic (who also directed and edited the video), he clarifies that though he named the track after the British electronic producer he didn’t sample his music for it. “I named it Aphextwin because I was listening to his track ‘Actium’ when I wrote the lyrics, so it sparked the idea for the song.”

This is the 2nd single from Illogic’s forthcoming album Autopilot, which will drop on CD, Vinyl and digital formats on October 20th (see below to link for pre-order bundles including exclusive merchandise). Though this is Illogic’s 8th studio album in a highly decorated two-decade plus career, as the title signifies it’s his first self-produced album.

As he states “It was important to me that I self-produce a project at some point in my career. Autopilot is both the accomplishment and affirmation that I can achieve anything I set before myself by working hard and staying disciplined.” While he handled most everything in the album, long-time fans will be glad to hear his lyrical foil and fellow co-host of the Super Duty Tough Work Podcast, Blueprint makes an appearance (as well as Supastition and Just Joey).
