Women are involved in the production, performance, graphic design, engineering, videography, photography and beyond. When you listen to Synergy cypher Pt.2, the love and the space that the ladies hold for each other is quite prevalent. In 2017, Jovan received a grant from WeWork Creator Awards in the Incubate Category to make this multidisciplinary project come to life and to reach its highest potential
Synergy Cypher Pt.2 follows on from the recent release of Synergy Cypher Pt.1 which featured Glitter Moneyyy, Sauda Muse, Jade The Ivy and Jovan Landry. Synergy Cypher Pt.2 features Sundé, Tee Spirit, JuJu MinXXX, Tweak and Jovan herself, each cypher features different women in the collective. Synergy is defined as "the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances” or “other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects " which is exactly what these releases stand for.
Speaking on the release, Jovan says This eery banger is an anthem for women, particularly black women, who tend to not get the respect that they deserve. “Say that you didn’t know? Well, I bet you do right now,” as it’s said in the chorus, sung by Tweak’G. The music video was directed by Briana Clearly and is visually appealing, inspired by duality, mystery, masculine and feminine energy, Light and Dark elements. Each verse transition from one to another seamlessly, matching each other bar for bar, with different deliveries, tones and flows.
