RICH THE KID’S THE WORLD IS YOURS DEBUTS AT #2 ON BILLBOARD 200
HIT SINGLE “PLUG WALK” CRACKS TOP 20 ON BILLBOARD HOT 100
Rich The Kid’s debut album The World Is Yours has premiered at #2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Featuring the hit single “Plug Walk,” The World Is Yours was released via Interscope Records/Rich Forever Music on March 30.
In the first week of its release, The World Is Yours amassed nearly 60K in consumption units, in addition to earning 74.3 million streams. In another major triumph for Rich The Kid, “Plug Walk” has shot to the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.
“There is nothing better than seeing Rich win,” said Interscope SVP of A&R Manny Smith, who signed Rich to the label. “He is constantly proving any doubters wrong by outworking the competition. From “New Freezer” to “Plug Walk” and now with The World is Yours, Rich is showing that he isn’t going to stop his hustle until he is on top.”
The World Is Yours features appearances by Kendrick Lamar, Khalid, Jay Critch, Rick Ross, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Trippie Redd, and Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee. The album recently landed on the “10 Best Rap Releases of the Month” list from Rolling Stone, who praised The World Is Yours as “wildly entertaining” and noted Rich The Kid’s “hard-charging tone.”
In the making of The World Is Yours, Rich The Kid worked with producers like WondaGurl (Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert), FK-47 (Future, Chief Keef), Krysshun (Vic Mensa, Casey Veggies), and DJ Mustard (Rae Sremmurd, Ty Dolla $ign). Along with “Plug Walk,” the album includes the chart-climbing single “New Freezer” ft. Kendrick Lamar. Released in September, the song has sparked a long-running viral dance competition known as the “New Freezer Challenge.”
Rich The Kid made his solo debut in 2014 with Flexin on Purpose, an EP featuring Fetty Wap, Ty Dolla $ign, and others. Over the next two years, he released his second project (Trap Talk) and launched his own imprint (Rich Forever Music). The New York-born rapper signed with Interscope Records in June 2017, and has since been featured in XXL, Complex, and more.
