(New Exclusive Interview) K. Cirrus Talks Music And His Career With Hip Hop On Deck

How long have you been doing music?

I have been creating music all my life. I have been pursuing this career in rap for about 15 though. I recently just became active again, after a five year layoff, and after seeing the state of the game today. I had to come back, like pookie from New Jack say, "it be calling me".

Breakdown your style and sound?

To be honest. I would say that my style is all the best things about rap and hip/hop today perfectly blended with all the best things from the 90's and 2000's. I say that to say that although I have that "new melodic hip/hop" to raspy "Rap&B" sound in my bag, what really ties my sound together is my elite lyricism and ability to deliver hard hittin bars. Some heavy shihh, a ton.

What do you feel you bring different to the music industry?

I feel like I bring several things. The first is something I feel like I bring back, and that is a respect for the ability to craftily hang words together, be that to tell a story, paint a picture, or simply to amuse. I feel like I bring a fresh perspective in that I don't claim to be the most boomin trapstar out here, or the cat with tons of dough and material things, or shooting something in everytrack, however I will bring you some of those stories and instances, from my perspective of course.

What was the hardest thing you had to overcome and how did you overcome it?

To be honest, I would say that it is two-fold. In general, the death of my father. He was my best friend, my road dog, the second head on all my jays, my pops. I manned up, got real cliche and realized that he wouldn't want be out here moping, and I did continued to achieve everything we discussed me achieving, that's how. Secondly, my fear of failing at the music game, and in the same way, getting of my ass, getting to it and taking a risk, plain and simple.

Where do you see your brand and career in the next 5 years?

I see my career and my brand beyond the stars in the next 5 years. It's hard to put a "cap" on it, because I never limit myself. I plan to release tons of music, as I got about 5 years to make up for in lost time. On top of that though i plan to further progress my brand by venturing into other areas and interest. Although it's hard to nail it down to one specific thing, I plan to be a "Multimedia Brand", and also a brand consisting of multiple "branches", no pun intended as I do have a bunch of land off in the Country ripe for the planting. But yea man, anything from industrial agriculture, lol, to slightly dabbling in the fashion and sneaker game, i can only see up from here.
