Young
Thug and Lil Yachty already dropped a major heater this year when they
linked up for Chance the Rapper's Coloring Book cut "Mixtape." Now,
they're back together thanks to the work of TM88. The producer decided
to reunite the duo for his new track "Been Thru A Lot," and we couldn't
be happier about the results.
"I
been through a lot/So don't try to stop me/They think that they got
me/But they cannot stop me," warbles Yachty on the chorus, before Young
Thug comes in to deliver some typical vocal acrobatics. Yachty later
lays down a nice verse of his own, and then Thug drops back in to bring
the track full circle. TM88 lays down a bouncy beat, and the whole thing
comes together great.
Thugger
is coming off the release of his new project Jeffery, which found him
naming all the tracks after his idols, including Kanye West, Wyclef
Jean, and of course Harambe. Jeffery was actually Thug's third project
of the year, following I'm Up and Slime Season 3. Yachty's also had a
pretty dynamite year, making the XXL Freshman cover and dropping Lil
Boat and Summer Songs 2, not to mention a litany of guest features. With
TM88 working with Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa on their mixtape TGOD Mafia:
Rude Awakening, 2016 has clearly been a big year for all three
contributors.
