Over the last year plus, most of the people in the United States and all over the world have experienced some type of isolation, loss of life, loss of income, and more due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Priest Da Nomad, a legendary MC out of Washington D.C. decided to focus his energy into curating a soundtrack to his idea of a perfect night out after Covid restrictions were to be lifted. The project is called “Out Da House” and features a combo of hard hitting boom bap material accompanied with soulful R&B style hooks and even a full R&B/Soul dance record for the ladies at the club! The timing for this release couldn’t have been better, as all of us are itching to go out and live it up after being locked down in our houses for the last year and a half plus! The whole album is refreshing and fun, but incredibly soulful with skillful artistry and production!
My most notable songs are:
1. "Out Da House" feat. J Hill – This is the kick off title track for the album featuring soul singer J Hill, and is produced by Unown. It is a fun up tempo track getting us ready for the whole process of going out, meaning finding something fly to wear, good herbals, and good drink! With J Hill on the hooks along with Priest himself, this track makes me feel good about going out and getting turnt up!
2. "Before You Go" feat. J Hill – this is the 2 nd single release, along with video and is a hard hitting soulful boom bap DJ groove, about meeting and macking on some ladies on the way to a club type venue; something many of us have experienced, when we’re out and looking fly. The track is produced by DJ Rage out of Detroit, MI and again features soul singer J Hill on the hook!
3. "Confused" produced by Jon Laine and Priest Da Nomad, this was the 1 st hard hitting single released from the album. Jon Laine uses a blaxploitation era style sample chop and musician Dre King adds a live cinematic horn section. Priest goes in hard with the bars and lets other rappers and folks who don’t take him seriously as a top notch MC, know that y’all got him confused! This song is straight fire hip hop with no chaser!
4. "Pumpfakin" produced by Vintage out of VA, this is yet another hard hitting boom bap banger, with sharp cuts by DJ RBI! Priest comes with the bars reppin his Generation X mentality talking to the younger dudes about trolling and talking sh*t on social media, knowing they wouldn’t do so in person! It is funny and entertaining, but oh so real! Vintage blessed the track with his style of boom bap knock indeed!
These are just some of the standout notables from the project, but the whole album is solid work, with great songwriting and production! Go get “Out Da House” either on Priest Da Nomad’s Bandcamp site at https://priestdanomad.bandcamp.com or on all streaming platforms. You will not be disappointed!
