Mereba ft. 6LACK - "Heatwave" | @Mereba

Rising songstress, Mereba (Interscope Records), has just released the acoustic version of her powerful song "Heatwave" ft. 6LACK. The song tackles police violence against people of color, proving all-too-familiar amid the current social justice climate. Not one to shy away from the issue, Mereba's lyrics are raw and direct, "See, they see sin in your skin, boy," while 6LACK takes a more personal approach with his emotionally-charged verse. The original version appeared on Mereba's debut album The Jungle is the Only Way Out, and its accompanying 2019 visual remains a fan favorite. “Heatwave (Acoustic)” was produced by Mereba, with co-production by frequent collaborators Sam Hoffman and Chris James. Listen to the acoustic version below.

Mereba’s stardom broke new ground with the release of The Jungle is the Only Way Out. The 13-track album featured appearances by J.I.D and 6LACK, and included a diverse range of themes from resilience to heartbreak. Mereba showcased her array of talent as a vocalist, spoken word artist and producer; producing/co-producing every track on the project with the exception of 9th Wonder’s “Black Truck.” Album highlights included “Planet U,” and “Sandstorm” ft. J.I.D. Mereba has remained a much sought after feature in 2020, recently joining J.I.D., EarthGang and Spillage Village on their album End of Daze. She also teamed up with Kojey Radical for the track “Same Boat.” In addition to music, Mereba continues to connect with her fans during the pandemic with her Jungle Journals campaign. Likening creativity to therapy, the initiative calls for “submissions of all kinds of creations that are being made while we make it through this era of social distancing.” Click HERE for more information.
