Debuts Brand New Song “The Last Sad Song”
“Heart On Ice” Remains #1 at Urban Radio for Second Week in a Row
Rapper-singer Rod Wave (Alamo/Geffen Records) is serving up two new visuals this week for “F**k the World” and a brand new release, “The Last Sad Song.” The Brett Arndt-directed “F**k the World” finds the St. Petersburg, FL native in a sleek penthouse; blending the larger-than-life concept with a handful of grittier images. The song appears on Rod Wave’s debut album Pray 4 Love, released earlier this month. Watch “F**k the World” HERE. By comparison, “The Last Sad Song” is a more intimate look into the rapper’s world; lyrically and visually. Though the video makes subtle references to the artist’s wealth, the shots largely take place in and around his home in deference to social-distancing measures. The DrewFilmedIt-directed video snagged the #1 spot for trending videos on YouTube early this week. Watch “The Last Sad Song” below.
Rod Wave has several reasons to celebrate this week, as his platinum single “Heart On Ice” remains #1 at Urban Radio for the second week in a row. The single first appeared on Rod Wave’s stellar 2019 project Ghetto Gospel. The body of work peaked at #10 on the Billboard 200 and paved the way for the sold out 22-stop duly-titled tour which is awaiting its new dates due to the current global pandemic. Meanwhile, Pray 4 Love has had an incredible amount of success, to date. The album peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Top Rap Album chart and debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. On the weeks surrounding its debut, the record earned the title for “Most Streamed Album of the Week” with 105.8 million on-demand streams while claiming the #2 spot on YouTube US’ Top 10 Artists list. The 14-track effort is home to singles, “Thief in the Night” and the title track, “Pray 4 Love.” The project also includes “Girl of my Dreams” which has charted in the Top 20 of Apple Music’s Songs Chart and is approaching 10 MM views on YouTube. The album includes production by TnTXD, SpeakerBangerz and Drum Dummie.
