Artist Prepares With Live Band for Shea Butter Baby Tour
Dreamville/Intercope’s alternative R&B chanteuse, Ari Lennox, has released her long-awaited album, Shea Butter Baby, on digital retailers worldwide. One of the most talented artists in the industry, Lennox aims to spread her soul-baring musical gospel with a masterfully crafted debut and a 24-city-tour that kicks off in Phoenix, Arizona next week.
It’s been an incredible 2019 thus far for the D.C.-born singer-songwriter who signed with Dreamville in late 2015. Lennox has been riding an exhilarating wave of success with her sultry single, “Shea Butter Baby.” The accompanying music video, which boasts a cameo from Dreamville label head and marquee artist, J. Cole, has surpassed 10 million views on YouTube alone.
The bulk of Shea Butter Baby features the vintage production stylings of Elite (“Shea Butter Baby,” “Whipped Cream,” “Static,” “Speak to Me”), Christo (“Broke” feat JID), Jaylen Rojas (“Pop”) and multi-instrumentalist, Masego, who produced the new single “Up Late,” which Lennox aptly describes as a “a neo-soul, sexy, sweet, midnight delight.” The singer received an overwhelming response when she performed it during a recent sold-out show at the Blue Note in New York and in front of 40,000 attendees at the Dreamville Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina last month.
