Tom Tripp Releases First Single ‘Loving You More’ From Sophomore Project ‘BLACK’
Supporting JUNGLE on UK Tour in May
“Loving You More” is simply proof of why Tom Tripp is a pop-soul natural and one of the purest new singer/songwriter we have. A self-taught musician (plays guitar, bass and drums) the song sees the 22 year old experimenting with influences from his Nigerian heritage and afro-beats as well as the hi-gloss experience of making music in studios in LA. Anchoring the stylistic twist is his signature candid songwriting – raking over the process of letting go after a break up. As Tom says “I am a sensitive Scorpio, I am very in touch with my emotions”.
Tom’s story is one that offers hope to the many bedroom producers and artists banging on the door. Having skipped higher education to pursue a career as a beatmaker & rapper, he spent years on his Cally Road council estate learning how to produce music and studying the moves of his early heroes Timberland and Skepta. Then, in his late teens, he started working in retail in East London & was introduced to more alternative pop, RnB and indie music, hearing bands like Tame Impala, Nao, Sampha, The XX and, most significantly, JUNGLE for the first time.
He immediately bought a guitar, learning as he went, and it was JUNGLE and Nao who perhaps most influenced his first song Aurelia. To then release Aurelia on Nao’s label and be booked to tour with JUNGLE completes a wonderful story for Tom as he develops his own sound and looks to take the next step on his journey.
“Loving You More” is the first look off the next project he is releasing titled “BLACK”. One of the most hyped about signings to Geffen and Polydor of recent times, Tom Tripp is the open-hearted, pop-funk teen-idol the year needs.
