Somedays everything just falls into place, like when I get to hear an artist who REALLY has something to say. On one such day, I was introduced to the music of C. Carter, an artist out of Southern Cali who puts it down in the style of legends before her. Not a copycat by ANY means, this artist brings a unique flavor to her old skool influenced lyrical content and delivery. I listened to the energy, watched her body language and looked into her eyes (via video) and C. Carter TRUELY has been there, in the belly of the beast. She's launching lyrical missiles with a deadly delivery that makes you sit up and pay attention to the story…she's a real MC which is rare these days and get our respect in a major way for that. Yup she's OFFICIAL HYPE…believe it!
Who is C. Carter, and where are you from? C.Carter is a young New female MC coming from Compton Ca.
How did you discover your musical talent? I've been into music since i was a little girl. My step Dad had brought home a Yamaha keyboard with little pre set beats in it & i would get my younger siblings to form a groups and sing with me, but Things got serious around age 12. I was hanging out in the front of my house with the boys & they were spitting freestyles so i just jumped in & it actually made sense. My friends dad had a in home studio he ended up hearing me rap & thats how it all started.
Who has been your greatest inspirations musically and why?
I would say Lauryn Hill for One. She is an Amazing Artist of Substance & she's gotten Respect by just being true to herself and the people Thats something i most deff admire and want for myself. Another person would be Missy Eliot again Another Amazing artist, Producer, Writer etc. she does it all and does it well & since i dabble producing from time to time i must admire her for being a DOPE female Artist in the industry and wearing all the hates she does so well its inspiring.
What do you feel you offer the music industry that we don't already have in other performers?
I would say Originality for one, it seems like everyone is trying to be the next Nikki Minaj, No offense i think she a Great artist but thats her image and sound we have 1 Nikki we don't need a 100 of them. I think another thing would be my Lyrical Content i like to speak on real life issues because life isn't a party and were not always turned up popping pills and blowing cash so i like to speak on things people can relate to.
Have you encountered any problems in getting to this point in your career?
Amazingly No, I feel really blessed because i get a lot of love. Its Crazy sometimes i feel like they been waiting for me, so when they hear me they embrace me.
What do you want people get from your music?
I would say Substance & Truth, something they can relate to. Something Different then what we've been getting, A new Voice.
