This album is what Young Duece considers to be their "new beginning". The last all original project, "Commercially Underground", was released in January of 2010. When asked, the duo explained how they decided to "take time" in order to reevaluate themselves as artists and better their craft.
"Over the years, we've been through a lot of creative stages and have done a lot of soul searching in the midst of it all. We went from just making whatever came to mind to trying to cater to who we thought our audience was, as well as to please higher authorities. Having played both sides, we really want to get back to making what we naturally feel.. but with a better understanding of how to approach everything."
This record was produced executively by the two as “Nu Theory”, featuring production from Wellblended, Elbee Thrie, Richie Rocks and Nova James. Also, Traphik, Liv Martez and Fred Benz make guest appearances.
The meaning of "Back From The Future" is basically their way of saying that fitting into what is considered popular, acceptable Hip-Hop music today is no longer their focus.. and whether their peers and immediate listeners can appreciate their work today or not, they know that the music can and will last to be appreciated for many years to come.
