Joey Purp Drops "Outside" Video + Announce Mixtape UpLate

Chicago artist Joey Purp has announced a new mixtape called UpLate available September 24th as a self-release. The project, which boasts no features encompasses a heavy emphasis on production style and marks Joey Purps’s production debut. Other producers on the project include many of the frequent career-long collaborators that worked on his last two critically acclaimed projects in iiiDrops and QUATERTHING: Knox Fortune, Peter Cottontale, Smoko Ono, Thelonious Martin among others (full tracklisting below). UpLate pays deep homage to Chicago House while aiming to tastefully and respectfully expand on that sound. Joey has championed House on both of his critically acclaimed projects - but where those projects veered towards an array of influence this is, in large part, entirely a house record marking a shift in his creative output.

He notes: "We really just wanted to expand. Expand on everything we’ve done. Expand on our sound. Expand Chicago’s sound and what that means to the world. We wanted to give a glimpse at our history and our future at the same time you know. There’s a saying, you don’t know where you’re going unless you know where you came from. In hip hop, we say it ain’t where you from it’s where you at. So this is where we’re from and this is where we’re at and this is where we’re going. And this is what it sounds like".
