On Thursday, July 18, 2019, Native Tongue Fest: Celebrating 30 years of Hip Hop at The Anthem in Washington, DC. In celebration of 30 years of hip hop, the Washington, DC show will be the first time in the Iconic hip hop collaboration, Native Tongues will share the stage.

The New York City-based Native Tongues crew was a collective of like-minded hip hop artists who would help bring abstract and open-minded lyricism that addressed a range of topics from spirituality and modern living to race, sex, and excitement to the mainstream. Together with the use of eclectic samples that would take on an increasingly jazzy sound, they would be pioneers of the self-styled conscious hip hop, alternative hip hop, and jazz rap.

Expect Performances byJungle Bros. Monie Love, DJ Maseo (of De La Soul), Jarobi White (of A Tribe Called Quest), Black Sheep, Kool DJ Red Alert, Brand Nubian, Chi-Ali, Leaders Of The New School, Fu-Schnickens, Da Bush Babees, The Beatnuts, Special Guests & More..., Hosted by Poet Taylor (WPGC-FM) Washington, DC & DJ Bee (ItsFreshRadio.com) Norfolk, VA

The show is slated to be the crescendo of the Documentary “Speaking In Tonguesdirected by Omar Akil and will pay full homage to the history of this iconic crew in hip hop and the imprint they left on the culture. There will be a special DJ tribute to Phife Dawg- along with donating a portion of the proceeds to The American Diabetes Associationto receive the check in his name. The show will also donate to The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline in honor of Chris Lighty.
