With the latest release it feels like Tanika is really finding her moment and as ‘Come Through’ follows on from her well received release of ‘Kingston 13’, her sincerity, depth and talent as an artist seems to embellish each new track even more than the last. The opulent and breath-taking scenery from the visuals meet with the seductive imagery of Tanika herself, making for a powerful all round effect.
Having been immersed in music culture for many years, Tanika is not only well connected but also highly regarded amongst her peers. Previous work has seen her collaborate with Stormzy, Wretch 32, Chip, Idris Elba, Krept & Konan and MNEK, whilst her contributions to Naughty Boy’s debut album saw her tour with Ella Eyre, Sam Smith and Emeli Sande but in recent releases the Jamaican influence has started to creep further in to her work and the result is beginning to feel like a real moment in this stars evolution.
With a host of live performances on a number of impressive line-ups that begin this weekend at Boxpark alongside Shy FX, D Double E, Donae'o and Crazy Cousinz, it is clear that Tanika is on the continued ascent and by leaving 2017 in such glorious fashion, we hope she is just warming us up for even more of her treasures to be released through 2018.
