Multi-platinum Producer Edrick Miles Debuts "Chill"

"A melodic R&B beat buzzes and breathes underneath Miles’ bars about making the choice to let 'the typical struggles of a relationship roll off your back"

Multi-platinum, producer Edrick Miles unveils the first songs of his own catalog with the melodic "Chill".

The North Carolina songwriter/composer has gracefully joined the ranks of R&B creators, penning hit after hit for many of the genre's biggest names, including Ty Dolla $ign, Kevin Gates, Joe Thomas. Most notably, Miles is the mastermind behind the multi-platinum Trey Songz and Nicki Minaj collaboration "Bottoms Up."

During his studies at Winston-Salem University, Miles, the son of a disc-jockey and minister (Edward Miles), was discovered by Gerald Isaac. Isaac was known for his work with Mary J. Blige, Mario, Angie Stone, Joe Thomas and many other Grammy award-winning artists and caught wind of Miles' innovative take on urban songwriting and production and young, natural talent.

Miles opens up this chapter of his own artistry after much success, accreditation and momentum in the music industry over the last decade. Earlier this year, he shared "New Clothes", his first official single, and plans to release a dynamic debut album in 2018.

About Edrick Miles

Edrick Miles challenges all musical boundaries by etching his identity in today’s highly competitive market. His list of production and songwriting credits resembles a collage of music paintings of Hip-Hop, Pop and R&B that transforms organic musical textures to cater to the artist that he works with. His unique soul and pop-savvy style is flexible enough to transcend into many genres and eclectic musical formats.

He has worked with industry notables such as Trey Songz, Joe Thomas, Ty Dolla Sign, Kevin Ross, and Kevin Gates, just to name a few. The Pleasant Grove, North Carolina native was first exposed to music at a very young age by his father Edward Miles who was a former disc jockey that turned into a minister with his own church. His father cultivated his love of music by keeping artist like Prince, Elton John, Phil Collins, and Al Green in constant rotation during his son’s early childhood. Edrick also played drums for his father’s church at the age of 9 and became the lead musician before his teenage years.

After high school he attended Winston-Salem State University, to play on the drum line and major in music. “I always wanted to be a recording artist and picked up producing as a hobby,” he explains. “I wasn’t really feeling school or the thought of working in corporate America he goes on to say.”

Edrick left college during his sophomore year and devoted all his energy to music. Edrick, along with his father and future business partner Duane “Dynamite” Whitlock, took trips to NYC and Atlanta for almost a year going to different studios working with independent artists. They then got a phone call while on a trip to Atlanta from a family friend named Tyler Turner. Tyler said a producer named Gerald Isaac called him wanting to know if he knew how to contact a kid named Miles who made beats. Gerald was known for his work with Mary J. Blige, Mario, Angie Stone, Joe Thomas and many other Grammy award-winning artists.

After the connection Edrick moved to Connecticut with Gerald to develop his songwriting and production skills. A year later Edrick moved back to North Carolina and was introduced to former manager Stacy “Grandmaster Slice” Rogers who had the hit singles “Electric Slide and Thinking of You” on Jive Records.

Upon traveling to Texas and Atlanta, Edrick developed an incredibly close and creative relationship with artist Trey Songz. Edrick played a huge role in the creation of the critically acclaimed “Ready Album” and also the “Passion, Pain, and Pleasure” album. Landing a co-write on Trey Songz biggest single of his career “Bottom’s Up.”

Edrick is now forging his way into an elite circle of producers, songwriters, and putting the finishing touches on his artistry for his debut release. “My sound is universal and I just feel like musically, I can do anything. There isn’t any genre that I can’t get with if it’s a good song. I feel like my sound comes from just having a genuine passion for music.”
