Newark, New Jersey rapper CharlzfloyD presents “Confident”, his new single produced by Kid Cannibal. CharlzfloyD previously has released “Dope” (listen). “Confident” will appear on Gink00zerozero, his forthcoming EP. An only child with no siblings, CharlzfloyD was raised by his grandparents while his parents struggled with drug addiction. Throughout his teens he played the trumpet before picking up the microphone. “The meaning of the song ‘Confident’ is to have tunnel vision and remain focused on your goals and succeeding. There will always be people who will try to downplay your success and the majority of them will be people who have never accomplished anything in their own lives and or have settled.” he says. “My inspiration for ‘Confident’ was the movie Rocky. During a scene, the bartender was downplaying Apollo Creed, his success and his ability to be a mogul. Rocky said, ‘He took his best shot and become a champ, what shot did you ever take?'”.

“Confident” displayed a surefooted shift in vibe from your previous single “Dope”. What inspires you to keep delving into new soundscapes and do you have a different creative process for each?
The music is the motivation. I do whatever the beat tells me to do. When I hear a certain drum pattern or melody I am able to think about how to approach the beat.  No, I don't have a creative process when it comes to making music. I usually let the beat rock. I walk around, and recollect from past and or current experiences.

What’s the next album and what can we expect?

Ginkzerozero00 the album is next (after the EP). You can expect to here about my detailed life experiences from a young mans stand point. You can also expect to hear continued versatility when it comes to my music.

What do you think surprises listeners the most about you?

I think it surprises people when they find out that I can really spit and my level of artistry. I am able to go in many different directions when it comes to making music.

What would it take for you to sign a record deal?

I would want to have creative control. All of my show money and I wouldn't sacrifice my publishing because i'm a writer.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in the music game?

Consistency. Never stop, be consistent keep grinding never stop. Learn, read and do research because a lot of people don't know what a 365 is and how the point system works.
