Starting off playing music as just a hobby, brothers Markus &
Paul never dreamed they would be traveling the world as a result of two
brother messing around on the turn tables. Sixteen years later
they are one of New York's most sought after DJS, one of New York's top
promoters and radio host for one of the most popular shows on Irie Jam
radio.
Their fan-base has grown with them from
house parties to clubs of 3000 and more. Many are asking what is the
formula. Is it their multi-platform approach of being djs/radio
personalities/promoters or is it just mere talent.
"There
is no formula besides love of music and our love to see the people in
front of us enjoy themselves for the few hours away from the stresses in
their day to day lives" say Paul Platinum, one half of Platinum Kids.
Performing
on some of the biggest stages throughout the US and the Caribbean,
Platinum Kids are known for entertaining a crowd of 700 during their
weekly Thursday night events in Bronx New York or crowds of 20,000+ when
it comes to some of the major concerts like Best of The Best, in Miami
Florida.
"No matter the magnitude of the crowd we
do our best to make sure we are entertaining the crowd in front of us.
Many DJs tend to play music and play well, but forget the people who
they are hired to entertain for that moment and that's what separates us
from them" says Markus Platinum one half of Platinum Kids.
As
their brand grow so does the business side of Platinum Kids as they
align themselves as one of the top promoters in the tri-state. This
title has allowed them to align themselves with some of reggae and
dancehall top artists inin the industry. They just wrapped up a 5 city
Aidonia tour as well as hosting events with Mighty Crown & Fire
Links, I-Octane, Jahmiel,Konshens,
Elephant Manjust to name a few. Presenting some of the major concerts
and parties in New York and Miami, have become a staple for their
fan-base on an annual basis.
"Being a
DJ does not come with a pension plan or social security so you have to
be smart and look to invest and put your hand and talent in other areas,
we learned this from very early" says Marcus Platinum.
