His mission is to shed light on the problems of the city, its residents, and his own personal hardships. Going by the moniker CitySun, the Springfield, Massachusetts native drops his monstrous debut mixtape “Growth”. The mixtape is a symphony of rhyme and beat that serves as sunlight to his everyday plight and his struggle to maintain sanity after traumatic experiences. Born Milton Rivera, CitySun is a Springfield, MA native rapper that embodies the true definition of what it means to be an MC. A rough upbringing and constant change of living situation brought on a feeling of loneliness as it was hard for Rivera to maintain friendships. The rapper started writing rhymes in 2003 as a way to vent his inner darkness and as an attempt to reach out to those around him who felt the same but didn’t have the creative means to express their pain. Today, CitySun is one of the most widely known names in the city of Springfield, MA.
