Rapper Global Not Local Talks About New Music, Life Experiences & More (EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW)

What is your background? Tell us where you grew up and some information about your upbringing/experiences as a youth.

Born & raised in Carrollton, MI, a couple hours north of Detroit. Growing up I always tested authority but to ﬁnd the answer to why, as most do but it was too much for my teachers who didn’t want to help inﬂuence my wellbeing as child but rather just make sure I can add and subtract, disregarding my POV of the world outside of the academics. But I didn’t let that stop me from expressing my needs regardless of whatever label or punishment.

At what moment did you know that music was part of your life and what feelings did you have towards making an active impact with your music?

During college basketball I realized no matter how great the success there’s still issues off the court as in relationships, ﬁnances, etc., all the things basketball didn’t solve. With music I can bring to light my problems and ﬁnd the answers. Music was the answer to everything.

What artists inspired/inﬂuences you and if you could collaborate with any artist (alive or passed) who would it be and why?

Bill Withers is a huge inﬂuence to me, someone I would be honored to collaborate with! "Lovely Day" to me is most universal song for every adult & gender to relate to, how vivid his lyrics complimented the warm and comforting rhythms and waves of the song and then he hit that long note at the end. That song inspired me to make a song like that people need in their life. S/O to Bill Withers!

What do you think about the current state of hip-hop/mainstream music?

Hip Hop is still Hip Hop, the production is much harder and the lyrics are more expressive to their lifestyles but some call it soft but aggression isn’t needed 24/7 you need a balance with it.

Currently, what projects do you have in the works that you are most excited about?

The biggest project right now is becoming "Global Not Local"!

What are your short-term career goals within the next 6-10 months?

Become Global Not Local and get my singles popping on the charts, also get featured on some major acts tour and features with the inﬂuential!

What are your long-term career goals within the next 2-5 years?

Grammy Nominations & WIN some Grammys, Have a Global Not Local Tour, be iconic not only with music, and the rest we’ll have to watch.

If you had one song out of the catalog you have created to show a person what song would it be and why?

Press Rewind because everyone wishes they could press rewind to the good times from the bad times, its familiar in a good way.

To the person who had never heard of you what is it about your music and story that you would tell them to entice them to be a supporter?

To the person whom has not yet heard my music, if your a hopeless romantic or someone who’s been looked at sideways for being yourself, that means your life and feelings too are Global Not Local.

If your music could be described in ﬁve words what would those ﬁve words be?

Global Not Local Cultural Music.

What do you bring to the game that is unique and different?

Generational trends, modern inﬂuence and a cultural lifestyle.

To the aspiring artist who is considering a career as a musician what lessons or advice would you give them to inspire them or to uplift them in the journey?

Don’t follow the great’s step-by-step to achieve success, ﬁnd out why they achieved success and ﬁnd your reason for success but know when I say success I mean life. Don’t follow others reason to live life, ﬁnd out why they live and ﬁnd why you live, the music is one of many tools that’ll provide you these answers. If these answers are not needed then set goals, and challenge yourself or enjoy it however you desire.
