Hip Hop On Deck Exclusive Interview With Black One About The Arizona Hip Hop Festival

1. Black One, how many songs will you be doing on your set?

I will be trying to cram as many songs a possible into my 10 minute set. So maybe like 4 or 5…or like one long 10 minute verse.
2. Black One, what do you feel you will bring to the Arizona Hip Hop Festival?

I’m bringing what I can. There’s a lot of talent on the bill, over 125 acts and many are going to do their best just to stand out. I personally just hope to continue what I do best…which is connect with people and grow. Anyone who follows me and knows that I stand out anyway and my involvement in the festival is less about me and more about doing what I can as an artist to support the scene and the community.
3. Black One, how important is this festival for you, your brand and career?

On some level, I want to say that I’m going to come through to the show and do the dopest set of all time. Then everyone will scream my name and be on my jock forever and I accomplish another goal in the quest to be in the greatest rapper of all time. But In reality, I’m just going to go the festival and do I what I do. I want to shake hands and link up with people and that pretty much the most realistic outcome.
4. Black One, how do you feel about Master P being apart if this event?

It’s a pretty cool look for the event. I would like to meet him as he is, you know, Master P and all. Being the jaded rapper that I’ve become, I wouldn’t look more into then that at this moment on a personal basis but it should be interesting to see what he has to offer the Arizona Community.
5. Black One, where do you see your brand and career in the next 5 years?

I hoping to just continue on this quest for ultimate enlightenment and success. I am the type that realizes that I will probably never be truly satisfied and I will always want more. Over the next 5 years, I just hope to become better at everything that I do. I also will continue to find more people that resonate and understand what I am trying to do as an artist and do what I can to give them the best I have to offer.
