Los Angeles’ DJ Scarface presents the self-directed music video for “All Guud”, his new Kajmir Royale-produced single featuring Big Prodeje of South Central Cartel as well as Newark trio 050 Boyz. The song appears on BrickCity2LA, his new EP dropping today also featuring Unique Riley, King Ras Pedro and Gritz. “All Guud” comes on the heels of the video for previous single “Woosh” (watch) and “Queen Like Her” (watch). Deejaying since the early ’90s, DJ Scarface has been making music and releasing mixtapes for the last four years under his Scar/Face Muzik imprint (visit djscarface.com for mixtapes), as well as managing artists like Nigeria’s Henzee and holding a residency at Hollywood’s Key Club.

How did you get your DJ name?

I was going by another name in the ‘90s . I quit and went back to school to get my degree. After that I decided to come back in 2001. But I did not wanted to show my face again, so I came up with the idea of a masked DJ. I wanted the name to give people an idea of why I wear a mask - ScaredFace!

What made you decide to become a DJ?

I loved hip hop early, I mean in the early ‘80s. And DJing is hip hop. But it wasn't till I was in high school that I really fell in love with mixing while listening to Richard Humpty Vision do his dope mixes on Power 106.

Where were you when you heard your first hiphop song? What were you doing? How did it affect you?

It was 1981. It might have been “White Lines”. I bugged out, like “wow, this is some dope music.” I just fell in love instantly. The first record I ever bought was Keith Sweat's “I Want Her”.

How did you connect with Big Prodeje?

We were connected on Twitter, and I’ve been a big fan of SCC for a while. So when me and the 050 Boyz were working on our EP, I thought “let me try getting him on the EP.” I hit him up and it was a done deal. Be on the lookout for the Big Prodeje & DJ Scarface EP dropping in September.

What’s 2015 been like for you so far?

Oh wow. It started off with my dad passing away on New Years Eve. But since his passing, his blessings are showering me with success. I dropped my first two singles, "Queen Like Her" & "WOOSH", then I dropped my EP on July 3rd! I can't complain. I'm doing what I love to do and there’s more to come this year. Be on the lookout for DJ Scarface, Big Prodeje, 050 Boyz, Gritz and many more.
