Mayweather co-trainer Nate Jones takes the corner for
Adrien Broner and is the subject of new reality TV series ‘Undefeated
Mayweather
co-trainer Nate Jones takes the lead spot for Floyd Jr.'s "Lil Bro"
Adrien Broner. Broner is prepping for his upcoming battle against Shawn
Porter June 20th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The fight airs on NBC. Jones joins Broner in the Las Vegas, Nevada camp shortly.
Nate
Jones is a huge part of boxing history. Not only is he one of the
co-trainers for Floyd Mayweather, Jr., he stands as the only native
Chicago boxer to ever take the podium in the history of the Olympic
Games (Atlanta 1996). Jones captured the NABA Heavyweight Title in 2000
and fought for the WBO/NABO Heavyweight Title in 2002.
Subsequent
to his WBO/NABO Championship bout with Lamon Brewster, medical doctors
diagnosed Jones with diminished reflexes and speech, forcing him to
retire as a boxer.
Currently,
Jones serves as a co-trainer to Floyd Mayweather, Jr., his friend from
the U.S. Olympic Games. He was recently seen in Showtime's "Inside
Mayweather vs Pacquiao" training Floyd and discussing their friendship
and Olympic experiences together.
Along
with the spotlight in the middle of major happenings in boxing itself,
Jones is in much demand for his unique insight into the world of
pugilism...and life. Upcoming projects include a book entitled,
"Climbing" authored and edited by Jerry Doby, Editor-in-Chief of The
Hype Magazine; A training DVD "Nate Jones: The Training of a Champion.”
Nate
is also the subject of the new sports reality television series,
"Undefeated" which will film at the Mayweather Boxing Gym in Las Vegas.
Part of a champion creating group of boxing icons, Nate allows the
cameras into his daily life and behind the scenes as he plies his trade.
There is no group of masters of the "squared circle" more discussed in
the annals of the sweet science than Nate Jones and his fellow trainers
in the Mayweather camp.
A
testament to Nate and his place in boxing, some of the sport’s most
prolific former champions are scheduled to appear on the series.
Currently on the slate is: retired champion and boxing analyst Roy
Jones, Jr.; Mayweather protégé Adrien Broner; Former WBC Lightweight
Champ, David Diaz; Former WBO Heavyweight Champ, Lamon Brewster; Former
WBC/WBO Welterweight Champ, Feroz Fernando; Former Light Heavyweight
Champ, Antonio Tarvor; Comedian Joe Torry; Former NBA player Kendal
Gill; and up and coming TMT fighter Chris Pearson.
"Undefeated"
is a 12-part, nationally syndicated, reality-based series airing in the
fall of 2015; check your local listings. Music Director for the series
is Grammy-nominated producer, Chris Flame, mostly known for his work
with Jay Z's critically acclaimed, American Gangster. "Undefeated" will
be the first insider look at the magic making team. Bringing it all
together is Unlock Media Group and Executive Producer Greg Davis.
On
a grander scale, Jones is in motion to create the Nate Jones Complex
Chicago. A part of the Nate Jones Foundation's non-profit network, the
complex will house "edutainment" programs such as a fully functional
Audio/Visual studio, boxing gym and program, basketball court, mentoring
and tutoring programs, etc. "To whom much is given, much is required"
and Jones is taking that charge very seriously. He's joined by
government officials and celebrities in his efforts to bring the
"Complex" to life.
