[Washington, DC] Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Rekia Boyd, Yvette Smith, Pearlie Golden, John L. Crawford, and the list goes on and on...The list of Black lives snuffed out at the hands of law enforcement continues to grow almost daily, and Hip-Hop has been at the frontlines of the protests for justice across the country.
TOMORROW, April 21 at 5PM, Philadelphia recording artist FREEWAY will use his voice to help the New York Justice League march on Washington, D.C. to demand police accountability and reforms in response to the recent killings. FREEWAY will be joined by a bevy of celebrity guests, including legendary actor DANNY GLOVER, star of the hit TV show "Empire" JUSSIE SMOLLETT, rapper and activist JASIRI X, recording artist QUADIR LATEEF, and more.
"Police brutality isn't new. All across this country, the 'hood has been at odds with the police for as long as there have been 'hoods," says FREEWAY. "But in 2015, the issue has become an epidemic, and I feel it's only right that I use my voice and influence to help wake up the community and the leadership. Black lives matter. All lives matter."
Known for his stellar work ethic, FREEWAY has had a long and successful career as a recording artist, but says that even he knows the full-time rapper portion of his hustle may not last forever. As of late, the Roc-rooted artist has begun to develop as a successful entrepreneur via his BEST BEARD CREAM product line, along with his efforts to speak on issues that matter here in America and across the globe.
