New York-bred, Las Vegas-based rapper and Attain Media Group co-founder Que QNA presents the Terric Bennett-directed music video for “Don’t Hurt Me”, his new single produced by Hungarian producer Smithmusix. “‘Don’t Hurt Me’ in a nutshell was a futuristic vision of my life being played out in my mind with a girl I just met, and weighing the pros and cons of the rare chance it actually happens with a boastful, sexual and comedic twist,” Que says. He is currently working on a new EP, due for release this year.

What’s the first hiphop song you ever heard? Where were you and how did it affect you?
I believe the first hip hop song I heard - or what I believed to be hip hop at the time - was EU, “Da Butt”. I was living in Flushing, Queens at the time. I had to have been 6 or 7 when I heard it on the radio riding in my mom’s old powder-blue Cutlass. I remember doing the dance and mangling up four or five words to pronounce one lyric right. It immediately made me want to sing along or dance.

What made you want to be a rapper?

Music has always been an interest of mine since a young boy. I was in chorus, vocal tech l, ll, lll and piano class. I actually started to develop the craft in my early teens. I delved deep into the craft in my early teens. It was a pasttime most of my close friends shared at parties and gatherings. We would do it for sport to sort of "mentally flex" on each other or to show off for the ladies. In actuality all of my close friends at the time were musically inclined in some fashion. Rapping, singing or having an ear to spot which up-and-coming artist was next to blow. I guess overall I was better than the average with the potency of lyrics, delivery and song arrangements.

What was the inspiration for “Don’t Hurt Me”?

It was tidbits of actual happenings mixed with fantasy, storywise. When I write I draw from real experience or situations. I just take it a bit farther depending on the song, but all my songs are truth-based. I heard the beat and I immediately heard a lady speaking to me. I felt that was the best route creatively to build off.

Are you working on an album?

Yes. I haven't settled on the exact title yet but I've got a couple of choices in mind. I’m working on having that project done by the end of the year. My main focus though is creating a solid body of work that fans and I can enjoy and putting out art I’m proud of. I am my harshest critic.

What are your other plans for 2015?

Well, one completing my next album. Second is expanding my fanbase further throughout the country and to as many people I can reach. I also have SXSW coming up in March in Austin, TX which I’m excited about, so if you’re attending the festival look out for me. After that I plan on attacking the colleges and radio. College students are the biggest body of real listeners and that's what my music is all about, listeners. I've got a couple of fraternity shows lined up as well. To all the college fraternities and sororities: if you want Que QNA to do a show for your chapter at your school go to my website Quedaily.com and contact me. Who knows, I might show up at your school next.
