Cam has shared stages with Kendrick Lamar, Dom Kennedy, Curren$y, Casey Veggies, Skeme, Overdoz and Pac Div & many more. “I wrote ‘Low Pro’ to express my desire to no longer be low-profile and progress to a higher plateau a.k.a. ‘go pro’,” Cam explains. “It’s a day in the life; describing the city I’m from to the music I make down to the weed I smoke and who I choose to smoke it with. I’m telling you that this isn’t enough for me though and my mentality is to go further. It turned out being the unintentional anthem of the project, from Low Pro to Go Pro.” GOPRO is out now.

How did you decide to be a rapper?

I was always a big music and art enthusiast. I’ve always been a fan first. I began listening to so much music that I began making songs from some of my favorite songs, rearranging the worlds to fit me, from there I began freestyling and fell in love with it. I love spontaneously being able to create a whole flow or song within the moment. Don't get me wrong: I love to wrote lyrics too, but I love to keep my mind sharp and freestyling is a big part of my musical process.

What was your inspiration for writing “Low Pro”?

“Low Pro” is about me wanting to stop being so low profile. Its a like day in the life; describing the city I'm from to the music I make down to the weed I smoke and who I choose to smoke it with. I'm telling you that this isn't enough for me though, and my mentality is to go further. It turned out being the unintentional anthem of the project, from “Low Pro” to GoPro.

What’s your favorite rap album of all time?

That's a seriously hard question because the could change on any given date, but today i'll have to go with Kanye West, College Dropout. When I was in high school that album mos def changed things for me and the world as well. Music, hip-hop sound and imagery was completely shifted. Again, that answer could change tomorrow.

What’s your perspective on staying independent versus signing with a major label?

I believe in this day and age with the proper vision an artist can remain independent without needing to sign a major label record deal. In my experiences labels don't have the soul wrapped into it the way the artist does. I see a lot of distribution deals those are a good look cause it helps both parties and the artist can make more money to further the music by selling their own merch and touring. With the power of the internet, the old idea of, "I cant wait to be signed" is washed up. You gotta take matters into your own hands and create the opportunities that will ultimately have the labels begging you to distribute your music to the masses.

Any shoutouts?
