Female Rapper Billy B Talks Music With Celebrity Blogger Kareem Williams
Billy B Bio:
Jahdira Atkins, known as Billy B., is the newest female spitta out of Brooklyn. Music was always a prominent force in Billy B's life but it wasn't until the tenth grade she started to rap. Despite not taking it seriously at first, rap eventually became second nature to Billy B. "I'd put my headphones on, listen to a bunch of CDs and absorb the lyrics. Essentially, I started to put my own words to the music."
When asked what inspires her to create music, she simply states that music is a form of expression for her. "I just want to express myself and my lifestyle. My lifestyle and the lifestyles of those around me is one of my biggest influences in my music." While she is still the "new kid on the block," Billy B has a couple projects under her belt thus far and a mix tape on the way in spring 2015. Staying true to her "sexy, hardcore rap," Billy B keeps her lyrics raw.
She owes her "rawness" to the streets of East New York and Flatbush, the two neighborhoods in Brooklyn she resided in for the majority of her life. "I'm that pretty girl from the hood who raps, you know?"
And while Hip Hop was always in her blood, Billy B finally decided to pursue it, at full speed in the latter half of 2013. With the new year upon us, people can expect a lot more from BillyB. "I'm going to be focused on introducing myself to the industry and the rest of the world." With plans to drop new music, visuals and book live performances, Billy B is creating her own lane and making a name for herself.
