TheRealSkitso Taps Kurupt for “Well Connected” Remix

Buffalo Roots and Relentless Hustle

Buffalo-based producer and songwriter TheRealSkitso continues to make waves, grounded in a work ethic forged on the city’s East Side—home to legendary musicians Rick James and Grover Washington Jr. Growing up in that environment gave him a sense of drive that defines his approach to music and life.

“Buffalo taught me how to hustle,” Skitso told The Hype Magazine, calling the grind “part of my DNA.” Known for transforming personal adversity into relatable storytelling, he adds, “Every setback is a setup for a comeback.”

In January, that resilience bore fruit when his self-produced single “Well Connected,” featuring West Coast icons Kokane and Tha Eastsidaz, premiered on BET Jams’ Mixtape Playlist. The television debut signaled more than exposure — it validated Skitso’s ability to fuse streetwise lyricism with a coast-connecting vision.

“This premiere represents everything I’ve worked for,” he said. “It’s about showing how far resilience and authenticity can take you.”

Remix Further Bridges Coasts with Kurupt

Building on the original’s momentum, The Real Skitso enlisted Dogg Pound veteran Kurupt for a remix of “Well Connected.” Kurupt’s lyrical presence injects a sharp new edge, elevating the single with a dose of classic West Coast bravado. Kokane’s melodic funk and Tha Eastsidaz’s raw delivery remain at the core of the track, but Kurupt’s involvement broadens its cultural and sonic scope.

Skitso sees the remix as a statement of unity. “I wanted this remix to create bridges—between coasts, between genres, and between people,” he explained. For Skitso, collaborating with legends like Kokane and now Kurupt isn’t just about accolades — it’s about lineage and connection. “Working with my heroes has been a blessing,” he added.

Kokane’s Mentorship and Industry Legacy

The hard-hitting remix retains the production quality that initially caught Kokane’s attention. The West Coast legend has since taken on a mentorship role with Skitso, continuing a tradition reminiscent of Motown and Chess Records, where seasoned artists helped guide rising talent.

“I believe in the power of music to connect generations,” said Kokane. “Skitso’s talent, passion, and dedication remind me of the values that built this industry. It’s an honor to help him bring his vision to life.”

Kokane introduced Skitso as the new face of Bud E Boy Entertainment, describing him as a multifaceted creative force. Their partnership echoes industry roots where experience meets innovation — a spirit that lives through this release.

Staying True to Buffalo Grit

While his collaborators span coasts, Skitso remains anchored in his Buffalo upbringing. He credits adversity as a key part of his process. “Adversity can be the greatest teacher,” he shared. For him, each obstacle becomes a stepping stone — a chance to learn, refine, and grow.

This grounded mindset not only fuels his music but also his collaborative approach. “Mastery doesn’t happen overnight,” he said. “I continue to hone my craft through practice and mentorship.”

In the remix, Skitso masterfully balances Kurupt’s West Coast flavor with his own unshakable Buffalo grit, offering a blend that feels both nostalgic and forward-facing.

Visuals and Unity Through Storytelling

The “Well Connected” original is supported by a cinematic visual directed by @directed_by_smitty. Shot with a duality that highlights both Buffalo’s toughness and California’s laid-back cool, the video also includes cameos from Black and Brown community leaders. The message is clear: unity through music is still possible—even when social and political structures falter.

The remix also teases Skitso’s upcoming compilation The Asylum Vol. 1, expected in 2025. The project is set to feature contributions from Westside Gunn, Devin the Dude, Tha Eastsidaz, Kokane, and more, signaling his growing presence in the national Hip Hop landscape.

Looking Ahead: The Next Chapter

With the release of the “Well Connected” remix, TheRealSkitso is cementing his voice as both a regional representative and a national contender. He shows no signs of slowing down.

“This is just the beginning,” he told fans. “I’ve got so much more to share.”

More than a remix, this track represents a larger mission: to connect generations and regions through authentic, unfiltered music. “I want my music to be a bridge,” he said. “Something that connects people to their own stories and aspirations.”

For TheRealSkitso, authenticity is more than a buzzword — it’s the blueprint. And as the echo of his Buffalo hustle stretches coast to coast, his voice is becoming one that listeners everywhere recognize and respect. Speaking of hustle...Skits just committed to joining Kokane on his international tour beginning in Cartagena, Columbia next month!
