British musician Nia Smith has just released her latest single, "Little Red Car", and announced her highly anticipated debut EP, "Give Up The Fear", set to drop on November 8th.
"Little Red Car" is an emotionally charged ballad that delves into the complexities of a disappointing situationship with someone who initially seemed perfect. The track captures the bittersweet essence of unfulfilled desires, blending a darkly romantic tone with reflections on both hurt and cherished memories. Nia grapples with the fantasy she built around this person, ultimately realizing that she didn’t truly know them at all. It’s a poignant exploration that has quickly resonated with fans during her live performances.
Produced by Grammy and Ivor Novello award winner Fraser T Smith (known for his work with Adele and Stormzy) and co-written with Ed Thomas, Nia shares her thoughts on the track: "Little Red Car" was a song I just NEEDED to write to help me let go of a bittersweet situation. It reflects both the sweet memories and the bitter feelings. Let’s just say I think I’ll avoid guys with little red cars moving forward, lmao".
This release follows the successful second iteration of her single "Personal", featuring Jamaican artist Popcaan, and comes after her debut single "Give Up The Fear", which garnered acclaim from outlets like NME, Rolling Stone, and The Times.
Nia’s summer has been bustling, having opened for Jordan Rakei at The Royal Albert Hall and gearing up for a month-long tour across the US and UK with fellow British artist Elmiene.
Growing up in a musically rich environment, Nia has been immersed in music since her childhood, writing songs at 14 and mastering guitar and piano. Her influences range from Aretha Franklin to Lauryn Hill and Adele, inspired by her father's diverse record collection. Nia first gained attention through her captivating covers on TikTok, including a rendition of Adele’s "Set Fire To The Rain", which has amassed over 3 million views.
As a dynamic live performer, Nia has supported artists like Mahalia and Tems and recently sold out her first solo show at BeauBeaus, owned by renowned artist Slawn. Her determination and hustle, shaped by her life in Brixton, have driven her to pursue her musical dreams relentlessly.
