DaBaby, the eight-time GRAMMY-nominated recording artist (South Coast Music Group/Interscope Records), recently shifted gears from his energetic hit "JUDY" to a more introspective track titled "DONE TRYING". The song, enriched by a heartfelt vocal sample, delves into DaBaby's personal reflections on loss, particularly the passing of his cousin, alongside his unwavering work ethic. Despite his dedication to success, DaBaby acknowledges his human side and moments of exhaustion.
In the accompanying visuals, which add to the song's authenticity, DaBaby's children and nephew make appearances, illustrating his balancing act between career demands and family life. The lyrics touch on personal growth and resilience, exemplified by lines such as, "They know I paid them dividends to get they brother dropped / And never sold my soul, I might fuck 'round, be another "Pac".
"DONE TRYING" is part of DaBaby's GHETTO SUPERSTAR EP, a collection that includes tracks like "GHETTO SUPERSTAR (FREESTYLE)" and the aforementioned "JUDY", featuring rising artist Skilla Baby. This EP serves as a teaser for DaBaby's upcoming full-length project slated for release this summer.
In 2024, DaBaby has also been actively involved in philanthropy in his home state of North Carolina. He made surprise appearances at events like Dreamville Fest and Lovin Life Fest, where he performed for large crowds and also visited Garinger High School to surprise students with performances and tickets to the festival.
