After generating over 20 million streams and attracting acclaim from Pitchfork, Lyrical Lemonade, and more, Connecticut-born, pop upstart, ericdoa reveals a new single and music video entitled “fantasize” today via LISTEN TO THE KIDS/Interscope Records. Watch the music video below.
The tune revolves around the thump of a funk bassline, handclaps, and dancefloor-ready guitar as it rushes towards a soulful refrain punctuated by boisterous horn samples. A wild guitar solo sends “fantasize” off into a fit of disco hip-hop hyperpop bliss. In the accompanying music video directed by Oliver Cannon, ericdoa takes over a lighting store and rocks out under a wide array of fixtures. Of course, he illuminates the screen joined by his full band.
Earlier this year, ericdoa and fellow genre-blending artist, glaive released their critically acclaimed track, “cloak n dagger.” Right out of the gate, Vulture described it as “a delectable FU,” and Pitchfork named it “The Must-Hear Rap Song of the Day,” going on to add, “Collectively, they make a two-sided lovesick anthem that could fit on a playlist right after Future’s ‘Throw Away’.” It has already amassed over 2.6 million Spotify streams and counting and north of 455K YouTube views.
ericdoa introduced himself with last year’s COA, which Pitchfork hailed as “thrilling.” Meanwhile, Lyrical Lemonade claimed, “The 18-year-old Connecticut native has built a reputation as an absolute golden child of this scene in a variety of ways.” Meanwhile, he continues to rack up millions of streams and engage a growing audience online.
