Westside Boogie Returns With New Single "Outside" Featuring Joey Bada$$

Compton’s Westside Boogie is ready to heal and reveal with “Outside.” With a sea of full sail jabs at his foes, the rapper declares his own GOAT status alongside the Pro Era general, Joey Bada$$. Boogie is focused on the approach, making each bar greater than the other while breaking his mental walls.

In addition to a subtle homage to Eminem’s 2000 classic “The Way I Am,” the MC clears the field for Joey, who flexes his lyrical muscles across the Rascal & Tae Beast produced beat. Despite fighting his environment and haunting remnants of his past, Boogie is steadfast in conquering the game–and Knox– to finally hop outside.

In the visuals directed by Shomi Patwary (Beyonce, Lil Tjay), Boogie makes his way to the East Coast to link with Joey across the five boroughs and even heads to New Jersey as their love interests take part in street racing. Unique as BBS on a vintage Benz, the pair roll around in style as the visuals merge the artist’s pristine bars with exquisite cars. It’s not only a peek into what hanging out used to be but also a stark reminder to fans that Boogie is officially back.

Few hip-hop artists command a space as purposefully anomalous as Long Beach-born, Compton-bred Anthony Dixson, whose stage name, Boogie, foreshadows his intrinsic talent for writing music that is rooted in realities that are simultaneously melancholy and joyfully uplifting. Oscillating between a soundscape underpinned by ardent praise rhythms and the gritty memories of a youth spent immersed in gangbanging, Boogie’s brand of rap is as much a credo of the streets as it is a constant reflection on purpose and growth.

With sighing to Eminem's Shady Records in 2017 and critical praise for his debut project "Everythings For Sale" in 2019, Boogie’s honest and true lyrics gained him fanfare among peers and landed him on Complex's "Best Albums of 2019". With the ability to tell stories around mortality, fatherhood, love and pain, Boogie has garnered a loyal fan base enamored with his anthology of nostalgic hip hop and alternative R&B.  He has worked alongside artists from Eminem, YG and The Game to Snoh Alegra, Ari Lennox and Buddy. His work is an ode to his gritty youth and a reflection on growth and change as he progresses through music.

Boogie provided fans with a few gifts during the pandemic: The first was his poetic questioning of systemic oppression on Savil’s “Boxed In” back in September and most recently, the celebratory pivot, “12 Days of Bhristmas” with OMB Bloodbath. The latter track was featured on LVRN’s Home for The Holidays LP released in November.
