Illanoiz - "Caina" | @illanoiztv

Brooklyn rap artist Illanoiz defies critics with his new single "Caina" produced by 314 Corey. The single premiered exclusively through RESPECT last week.

The Bed Stuy, Brooklyn bred emcee presents "Caina" a rags to riches tale that flexes Illa's brilliance as a rhyme slayer. Illa, who was once a prominent lyricist within the battle rap circuit flows skillfully over the piano laden instrumental produced by 314 Corey. "All I ever wanted was to make it out, I'm a dreamer," raps Illa as he tells a story from the perspective of a D-Boy desperate to leave the game. Like fellow neighborhood greats like Jay Z, Papoose, Talib Kweli, and The Notorious B.I.G. Illanoiz is a natural at storytelling. "Caina" is a follow up to his previous single "Down" which dropped in November.

When asked about the single Illa says, “This song gives the listener a glimpse into the gruesome underworld of Organized Crime. The chant like chorus will have even the most normal civilian feeling like a “Narcotraficante.”

The historic New York-based hip-hop platform RESPECT MAGAZINE wrote, "Aside from the rhymes, there is dope vocals that makes the track even more infectious."

Illa adds, “I want this song to encourage the listener to chase their dreams even when against all odds, by any means necessary!” At the age of thirteen, he began his career in music. By his early twenties, he became a master of the art of rap. The flow and cadence heard on “Caina” was developed through memorable lyrical sparring sessions in the Ultimate Rap League. Illa defies the notion that battle rap stars can’t make great songs with “Caina.”

I would limit myself as far as creating different sounds. I’m using my voice as an instrument now rather than just rapping…just touching on different topics. This is me, you gonna take me for who I am.”
