From the moment Cipherella presses play on her ghetto blaster stereo viewers become enthralled by the hip imagery. She and her crew begin marching through a parking lot styled in matching denim outfits. Her opening rhyme, “true story everything I say you type. World of collision, catch my vision, hop my flight” alerts fans of the hip-hop cosmos she intends to take viewers on in “Dumb Dumb.”
With dreadlocks propped up like a queen wearing a crown, Cipherella raps unapologetically about her frustrations with people and society. “I’m on cloud nine and there’s no need for coming down because the people that surround me steadily astound me.” Her candid libretto caught the attention of Afropunk.
"Hip-hop priestess in the making Cipherella is blasting this message across the globe, and we couldn’t be more for it." The visual shot and edited by Daniela Croci of Zoe Map features bright, colorful cinematography to conceptualize an avant-garde masterpiece. “Dumb Dumb” is an innovative demonstration of sisterhood among women of color. The funky costumes and choreographed dance moves are reminiscent to classic Missy Elliot music videos.
We watch Cipherella pop and lock through scenes that give “Dumb Dumb” more character. From turning a laundromat into a dance party to grooving on a stoop with her girls, “Dumb Dumb” captures the essence of hip-hop culture.

At the closing of “Dumb Dumb” she props her ghetto blaster stereo on her left shoulder to remind viewers that it is all about the music.
