Treyous Jarrells Addresses Roger Goodell's Comments + Speaks On Getting MMJ to NCAA Athletes (Audio)
This week, the NFL has taken back its reign over the hearts and minds over the country. The annual NFL draft took place this past week in Philadelphia. The next wave of NFL stars walked the stage, greeted the crowd and walked into what they hope will become their future.
Many
players won't make it through the first few years of their career and
it has nothing to do with talent. A slew of players have went into early
retirement over the last few seasons citing health concerns and
pain as reasons why they could no longer play the game they love. How
players deal with pain has become a hot topic issue. While players are
free to get access to any pharmaceutical medicines they feel. Yet, if a
player asks to consume medical marijuana for pain, they're given a big,
fat no!
The
league shuns any use of cannabis among players and that goes for all
sports. Coaches, that's a different story, but players can't.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made his feelings clear when he spoke with Mike & Mike recently.
Goodell said that marijuana is dangerous and unhealthy. His comments
sparked responses from cannabis activists, doctors, fans and players.
One player in particular can speak more about dealing with pain. Treyous Jarrells,
the former Colorado State University running back left the game he grew
up in Florida playing because the pain got to him and they wouldn't
allow him to take the medicine that he's been using his whole career.
So, he quit. Jarrells walked away from the game in 2015 and into a new
calling.
Treyous
has become an advocate for NCAA and professional athletes being able to
consume cannabis for pain relief . His efforts have led him across the
country, speaking to crowds about his life in football and how it might
not have happened if not for cannabis.
Treyous recently spoke with the CashColorCannabis podcast
about playing high, if players or coaches knew he consumed, his
advocacy for players his response to Roger Goodell and more
