Keed Tha Heater uses stories from the struggle to inspire others to chase their dreams

DALLAS, TX – Keed Tha Heater is the embodiment of hip-hop. His new single, “Get Money,” showcases an artist who not only pays homage to greats like 2Pac and Biggie, but ushers in a new wave sound with lyrical content that will make listeners want to hit repeat over and over again.

Self-described as upbeat mixed with down south and a sick drum kit, Keed Tha Heater said “Get Money” is a song that will immediately connect with listeners – not only because it tells the story of someone that so many hip-hop lovers can relate to, but because it’s a motivational challenge to do what it takes to succeed in life.

“I’ve done just about all you can do with rap and I’m ready to bring a new wave sound with some strong lyrical content,” he said. “You could say I’m kind of the last of a dying breed of real rappers. I’ve been spitting bars since I was 13, but I also sing and harmonize, similar to Drake. I am hip-hop. All the styles that hip-hop lovers enjoy, I incorporate into my music, all while bringing a new sound. It’s what I call the new age of hip-hop.”

Growing up in lower-income Kansas City, Missouri was not an easy childhood for Keed. But unlike many youth who grow up in those situations, he doesn’t look back on those years with anger or disappointment, but instead at all of the opportunities that were born from living within a musical family. Today, those opportunities continue to present themselves as he pursues a professional music career. It’s an attitude he hopes to pass on to others with his new single.

“I come from the struggle and I always had dreams and my story is similar to what you always hear of kids coming out of the struggle,” he said. “But my mother always instilled love in us and I was never a hot-head. If you listen to my music you’ll hear the struggle, you’ll hear the pain – and people have even told me I rap like I’m trying to get out of the hood. But ultimately my music is about my life – it’s not anger rap. I want people to get chills when they hear my shit – to get inspired and feel like they can rise up like I have. I want them to relate to it and say to themselves, ‘He did it; I can do it, too.’”

“Get Money” is an exploration of that journey in some ways as it talks about riding the waves of life while working hard to attain your dreams. He said he ascribes to the old saying that opportunity favors the prepared person, and he knows this single will show his fans that he’s more than prepared to ride the waves of success that come from a hit single.

“This is a song that really displays the new school of what’s going on right now in hip-hop,” he said. “it’s a hype record and a party record, but it has substance to it. Everybody does what they have to do to get money and to feed their families and take care of business, and this song is basically a fun way to inspire people to put in the work that it takes to get money and not be a couch potato. I hope people will hear it and realize I’m really saying something and want to listen to more of my music.”

Appropriately, Keed said the idea for the song first came into his head while he was working. In fact, that’s where the majority of the ideas for his songs come from.

“Usually I’ll hear some kind of beat and it just rolls around in my head for awhile and ideas will come in my head while I’m working,” he said. “I’ll be writing verses in my head throughout the day. It’s kind of funny that I’m working to get money and writing while I’m working.”
