This is my reprisal”. Disc 1 of egO anD The eneMy is due January 27th, 2017.

How did you get your stage name?

It's essentially my initials (my first name is Michael) as well as acronyms I later added, M.aking D.oubters O.ver T.hink, M.oney D.oesn't O.wn T.hought. When I played basketball as a kid some friends would yell out the moniker as a nickname and it stuck.

What made you decide to become a rapper?

I always enjoyed writing. Probably about my sophomore year of high school is when I started to actually record music. I had a tape deck and a receiver that I wired to actually 2-track myself hahaa. In college I met Rev & May (of the group we formed EMS) from then on we started recording and mixing our own music. This legitimately started with us using our college dorm room closets (which we padded with egg-crates) as sound proof (kinda lol) booths. We gained a little buzz at school then began to book shows. Following that we were able to make money off gigs, that's when I started to consider myself an MC. I always took it serious and gave it my full effort/dedication, nevertheless, I guess that's moment it became more of a job title. Nowadays the game is so oversaturated. When I first began spitting nobody else was a "rapper" at school. Anybody can just smoke weed in their moms basement and claim the occupation sadly. So in that respect I constantly wanna be more than a "rapper". Wanna be an artist and grow musically.

What’s the first rap song you ever heard? Describe the moment.

Man that's a tough one. Great question. I can't recall the very first record. I'd say "Gin and Juice" was the first time I memorized a rap song. "With so much drama in the LBC...”. hahaa. Of course though I heard other older rap records before that. That was first time I was perhaps captivated by it. I was like 10 when "Doggystyle" dropped mind you. But yea I thought (and still think) regardless of how dope the east coast is and how fascinated I am with lyricism/wordplay I will never stop finding myself in awe with how big Dr. Dre records are. He merged rap into a paramount sound. The songs sound tracked in heaven.

How did “Dreamscape” come together?

Marco sent a few beats actually about 5 years ago. I stashed 2 for this album (still have another beat with an entirely lighter feel and good energy conversely that will be used on "egO anD The eneMy" disc 2). Anyway, I immediately felt a dark undertone on this track. The writing process was easy, it just started to flow. It's 64 bars ya gotta understand (that's 4 verses) plus a hook and you don't realize that, as in my opinion it doesn't let ya lose focus. I wanted to talk about being overlooked and I wanted to make it a nightmare of sorts for those entering my world and my dark fantasy. I also wanted to put blogs, radios, promoters, fake rappers heads on a chopping block. That was my goal. If you’re not with me, you’re against me. This was my reprisal. This was my fire back. I feel like so many fake gangsters sell off this bravado. And I was tired of it. I have never had a silver spoon, in fact I grew up around some of that street life but have never used it as my story to "sell". As I had hoped my music would do that speaking for me rather than an image. When that blue collar, underdog life wasn't exactly increasing the buzz....I figured fuck it let me stick it to em and beat em even at what they say do well, I'll do it better. Video was a lot of fun. My man Miles came down to shoot. I had all the scenes written down. And we captured every single one at an abandoned mental hospital. Was scary in that place. Shoutout to my dog Quiz mixing the record with me.

What are your thoughts on the presidential race?

I'm gonna leave this one alone. As much as I like to stay up to snuff with everything in the world I can't say I fully follow politics thoroughly.

That being said.... both parties are looking not good for America. Disheartening that it's gotten this bad over here that either of these extremist are even up for presidency.
