As legendary producers, the pair have credits with every admirable emcee that ever spat a sick 16, but equally their talents don’t stop with the music. Prince Rapid and Footsie are accomplished emcees in their own right and also belong to a wider circle; Prince Rapid to Ruff Sqwad andFootsie to Newham Generals. With the pair sharing so many similarities and working alongside each other in their various roles to push the grime sceneforward, it was inevitable that when the link up happened, it was going to be epic!
Throwing it back to early Ruff Sqwad beats, Rapid works the magic on the buttons and opens the record with a barking beat andhead bopping hi-hats before kicking off the bars. Footsie comes through on the hook to deliver the punches and the ad-libs are positioned perfectly to see the two mic-controllers go back to back on this future grime classic.
Having previously released ‘What’s Good’, ‘Overdue’ is the second track to be taken from Prince Rapid’s 7-track E.P ‘Immortal’. The E.P, which also features Chip, Ghetts and Slix is grime at its best and authentically captures the sound of original grime:
