Who is Gino White?
LaMarcus Quantae White (Gino White) is an aspiring rap artist hailing from Pulaski, TN. I grew up in Victoria Projects traveling back and forth to Dayton, OH to live with my father. As a child with a split home, I was able to experience the small country town life and city life.
Being an artist from Tennessee, who are some of your music inspirations? Who did you listen to growing up?
2Pac, Biggie, Master P and the whole No Limit, Lil Boosie, C Loc, Kriss Kross, Da Brat, Ginuwine, Ghetto Twiinz, Geto Boys. That's not even half of the musicians who I was inspired by.
What can people expect from you this summer? Anything new they should look out for?
As of March 28, 2016, I released my first single of the year, Let Me In (Prod. By Ken P @Trunkbangaz). Also, I will be releasing 3 more singles, Every Day, On My Grind Feat. Teaz and Mr. KB and One Day Feat. Just Vybe. July 8, 2016, I am throwing a single release party at Club Venus in Pulaski, TN. Also, later this year, I am expecting to release my very first official album under my Street Mobb South Ent label. When it comes to collaborations, what type of artists do you see yourself featuring with on songs? What are some of the things you look for?
I have no limits as to who I would work with. I consider myself a versatile artist. I look for consistency, seriousness, ambition, motivation, etc.
Define hip-hop in your own words.
Hip-hop is art. Hip-hop is expression. Hip-hop is a way of life. Some of the legends in the game claim hip-hop to be dead. I say, hip-hop will never die.
What makes Gino stand out amongst the many other artists out?
Through all the humiliation, disbelief, non-support, I chose to continue my journey even through the most harsh storms. I remained with my head held high and as a result, my support system continues to grow. I never claim to be something or someone I'm not. I strive for perfection. Most importantly, I'm not just an artist. I own my own business/independent label. Most artists won't sit down and take the time to learn more about what they're into. As for me, I research as much as possible.
When people listen to your music, what can they expect? What will they be able to take away from it?
They can expect realness. They can expect truth. People can relate to what I speak. With tracks like, Still Remain feat Sara Shine and One Day feat Just Vybe, you can expect something more than just the physical things in life. Those are heartfelt tracks that you can listen to and actually feel it word for word for it may be similar to things in your life.
