The “Rockstalgia” EP is almost a "Rockin', Nostalgic" travel back to the 90's with beats and rhymes being center stage, cuts are thrown in the mix and there you have it - 2016 boombap, straight out of Europe.
Each song on the EP represents a certain year in the 90s. So you'll get songs with both an early and mid/late 90s feel to it. For example on the first song "Listen" you'll recognize the '93 sound immediately and then on the next song "Sin City" you get a feeling you're wondering around the city back in '98. A part from that songs like "Think Back" and "Mad World" both have strong topics which gives the listener a nice variety of songs.
Jace Abstract and Robin Da Landlord met each other through Lord Lhus when he asked Robin if he would be down to produce an EP for him with Jace. When they both met in person for the first time at Eastgarden Music Studio, the idea came up to work on a project together, and that’s how "Rockstalgia" all started.
AboutJace Abstract & Robin Da Landlord
Jason Pierrot aka Jace Abstract, born in Geneva, Switzerland, 8th of February 1990 - Half English, half French. English mother tongue, lived in Geneva for 25 years before moving to the UK. 1/3 of Grim City with school friends Branko and Inztrow. Jace started writing and recording raps between ages of 13-15, under the name K.O. (Keeping it Original) and then reverting to a more suitable name (Jace Abstract) by the time he was 19, he released his first music video in 2011 at the age of 23 released his first 2 EP's, one with a friend "The Mathz" called "Middle Class Trash" and the other called "The GanzStract Experience" with frequent collaborator and video maker GanzHQ. Since then, Jace has been building towards different with his group Grim City as well as solo material, and has several ready to come out this year (2016).
Robin Dijkstra aka Robin Da Landlord, born in Schiedam, the Netherlands, January 6th 1989, started making music in 2006. Growing up listening to producers like Easy Mo Bee, DJ Premier and Pete Rock which influenced him to start chopping up old jazz tunes, soul breaks and almost everything he thought was worth using. After some years of producing, Da Landlord really started to get a concrete sound of his own. Listeners could notice immediately when a production was his. Original sample flips and "IN YA FACE" knocking drums is what describes his music. This together proves his sound has that nasty raw layer, which in his opinion, defines the sound of the East coast 90’s Hip Hop. Da Landlord recently graduated from studying for Production/Musicians and Sound-Engineering. His album "Nostalgie" (2014) was a project he created as a part of his exams. His first album "When We Called Hiphop Rap" was released in 2010. He already produced for over 50 artists and the list is still growing.
