J. Cobb doesn’t have your common ‘rags to riches’ hip-hop backstory.Cobb was born to determined parents who motivated him to pursue higher education and reach for the stars in life. Cobb attended Wayne State University and earned a degree in Media Arts & Studies. Though music was always a huge part of his life, Cobb became more involved in hip-hop culture during college. It was then that he began to think of himself as an artist who could add to the experience.

A product of Detroit, the home of Hitsville, U.S.A./Motown Records, J.Cobb was naturally immersed in music. Growing up in a family of classically trained musicians inspired his appreciation for sound. Cobb’s deep passion for music led to the founding of his own independent record label, Stone Group Records. His indie label supports authentic artists of all genres without hindering their creative process. “K11 (Right Now)” exemplifies the motto of both J. Cobb and Stone Group Records - you can do whatever you put your mind to!
