Hip Hop On Deck New Exclusive Interview With Arizona Rapper Pierre Kardin
1. Pierre Kardin, you are from Seattle
but you live in Arizona. What life lessons did you learn in Seattle
that helps you in life today?
I been out here
in Arizona since I was in 8Th
grade so I was still growing in my life at that time. I wasn’t the
best youngin when I was little so I learned a lot from being raised
in Seattle and being raised in Phoenix. I think most of my life
lessons have been in Arizona from being homeless and not having no
support and realizing that you can’t trust everyone you meet. Or
going to jail and realizing that you can’t be great or do anything
great from being locked up. Or seeing your life flash in front of
your eyes by being out there in the streets. I have learned a lot and
folks will tell you im the happiest person they ever met and I just
keep a smile and don’t let anything bring me down because I been
through things that folks never been through. I have a strong heart
and mind. Thanks to my wife and my daughter im in a better place now
and we are just growing together. ‘1hunnid’
2. Pierre Kardin, how did you get
your name and what does your rap name mean?
My government
middle name is Pierre, Kardin actually giving to me by Rampage
(flipmode) who was my mentor back in the day and he felt like it was
catchy. He mentioned back in his days the fashion designer Pierre
Cardin was popping and he wanted to bring that name back in affect.
So we switched up the C to a K and ran with Pierre Kardin.
3. Pierre Kardin. you also spent
time living in Atlanta. What did you learn from the music scene in
Atlanta and how has that helped you today?
Being in Atlanta
and seeing the way the music scene moves out there showed me how to
support local artist and how to network. The south is very different
from the southwest. Most of the music in my library are mainly
southern artist. It’s in my bloodline.
4. Pierre Kardin, talk to us about
"Betcha Can't" and the process behind creating it?
‘Betcha Can’t’
was a long night in the studio trying to figure out something catchy
for the people. My producer (Selwyn) and I just put our skills to
work and came up with it and after recording it we knew we had us a
hit. And more to hits to come.
5. Pierre Kardin, in your eye's
how important is it to do live shows and tour across the world?
I think it’s
very important. Live shows and tours for myself I feel is a PLUS
because fans or future fans are able to see me bring my music to
life. I fell like when I perform in front of a crowd, I bring it all
out and get litt. It’s not for everyone tho.
6. Pierre Kardin, what do you feel
about trap music and how has it helped or hurt the music scene?
Well trap music
has been around for a little while now. Gucci, jeezy, & TI had
trap music popping and it has taking over the industry. Like I was
saying before, southern music is in my bloodline so I vibe to trap
music all day. The beat is the main eye opener when you hear trap
music. As long as the beat is right, you can basically say anything
on a trap song this day and age. But I fuxxs wit it.
7. Pierre Kardin, breakdown what
you see for yourself in the next 5 years?
In 5 years I
definitely would love to be signed and doing something I love and
making good money off of it. But just to be alive and still making
good music and being able to wake up next to my family and just be
happy with life. Only time will tell!
8. Pierre Kardin, what do you love
about making music?
I love everything
about making music. I love thinking hard and coming up with concepts
and just using my knowledge to make a fire track. I love the feel of
having headphones on and spitting my creation into a mic and having
the people hear it. I love performing the music I make and see the
people rocking to my shit. I love everything about making music. It’s
a passion im not out here doing this because everyone else is trying
to be a rapper. This is something I was born to do. I love everything
about music.
