Hip Hop On Deck Exclusive Interview With The Last WordBenders

1. The Last WordBenders, How long have you been doing music?

We originally started back in 2011, but we spent two years working on our craft. We made our debut performance
on May 4th 2013 at the Geek Out convention in Asheville, NC.

2. The Last WordBenders, What made you start doing music in the first place?

MidiBoss always had a love for poetry while Jeshua was and is heavily into free-styling. We both are huge music
nerds and one day it all clicked, and we started writing songs. Haven't stopped since.

3. The Last WordBenders, what is the concept behind Overachievers?

We're both into martial arts, and we wanted to showcase that along with our love of cosplay. The intro to the song
reminded us of the Ninja Turtles, so we decided to add a "vigilante" element to the video.
We would like to see this as the first part of a series of videos that will unfold a story as time goes on.

4. The Last WordBenders, what is the hardest thing in life that you had to overcome and how did you overcome it?

Musically, in our city, we are definitely an oddball duo. Alot of groups were hesitant to work with us at first, so we
had to make a name for ourselves hosting our own shows. We knew nothing back then about the music business,
and we had to learn alot in very little time. But with our dedication, and consistent attempts to stay open minded,
grow, and constantly improving our performances, we have started to gain acknowledgement from our peers.

5. The Last WordBenders, where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

We aim to do more than we did the year before, and will continue to do so.
In five years, we aim to be consistently doing shows, traveling, and becoming even
better at our craft than we are today.
