Mar Talks New Single and More With #ThePlug Jason Bourne

With tour plans, a new single that is heating up and more on his plate Bridgeport MC M.A.R is in the middle of a healthy campaign continuing his campaign to become a household name. I caught up with the rising MC recently to discuss Haters his influences and what the rest of 2015 holds. Check it out:

Jason Bourne: Talk to us about your influences growing up in Bridgeport as a fan of Hip Hop?

M.A.R: Growing up in Bridgeport, Connecticut is pretty much just like any other Hood. Where I'm from Hip Hop is the only thing we listen to. My influences come from the Hip Hop greats, I learned from a lot of artist's in my lifetime.

Jason Bourne: What age did u start writing rhymes?

M.A.R: I WOULD SAY I STARTED WRITING RHYMES AROUND 11 or 12 Years old I had to be in like the 6 or 7th grade.

Jason Bourne: At what point were you convinced that this could become a career ?

M.A.R: I've been into music my entire life, pretty much. I was convinced at a young age that I would be doing something in this field for a living, or as a career I should say.

Jason Bourne: You have opened up for a number of well known artists, talk about that experience and what you have learned that has helped you strengthen your brand of music?

M.A.R: I've had a chance to open up for some artist that I actually look up to. From artists like Jeezy, Lupe Fiasco, Yo Gotti, Lloyd Banks, Vado; the list goes on. I would have to say opening up for these great artists every time has been a dream come true. I've also learned that what I am doing can be done. That's the lesson, and they are living proof that Hard work & DEDICATION pays off!!!!!

Jason Bourne: On your new single, Haters, you added a very melodic sound covering a very real topic. Take us back to the recording process??

M.A.R.: The recording process was dope. Me and my brother Ace locked ourselves in the studio and came out with a hit. Once I heard the beat he made I instantly started vibing out. I messed around with the hook, jumped in that booth and created a masterpiece.

Jason Bourne: How did you know this was the perfect follow up to Like Jeezy

M.A.R: The Streets and the internet spoke. They let us know. We put it out and got a great response. Its till climbing as we speak.

Jason Bourne: How would you describe yourself as an artist ?

M.A.R: I would describe myself as very hard working, relentless; the type to never give up. That has been my attitude from the start.

Jason Bourne: How was it working with Ace and Next Level Productions ?

M.A.R: Its always great working with my brother. He's a genius, we been at it for years. We came a long way from those college dorms. Its Street Level, Next Level over everything. #LightupppBoyz

Jason Bourne: Whats next for M.A.R ?

M.A.R: I'm gearing up and getting ready to drop my next project M.A.RIJUANA the EP. Also dropping a mixtape as well look out for the LightUppp tour. It features myself and Manolo Rose. We are hitting 5 different cities in 5 days; stops in New York, Connecticut, Boston, Rhode Island, New Hampshire. We got some new visuals dropping the #LightUppp movement is taking off.
