22 year old rising MC Macc, AKA M A Double C is one of the more authentic individuals that you will encounter in the business. Wanting nothing more than a far shot at success, and a chance to share his story and music with the world. The north Bronx product is carefully putting together his debut project, Hell Is Cold Vol 1 which will be released sometime this year. I recently caught up with him, on his grind of course and chopped it up with him about his life, music and goals. Check it out:
Jason Bourne: Where are you from ?
Macc: My name is Gregory Walker, as a rapper I am better known by my stage name Macc or M.a Double C. I'm From the Bronx, New York. Uptown - 219 and Bronxwood to be exact. I'm Definitely A Product Of My Environment.
Jason Bourne: What are your earliest memories of your interest in Hip Hop ?
Macc: My earliest memories are like from 1999, as the middle child I remember my older sister being heavy into Hip Hop and stuff back then. She loved the whole Bad Boy movement. She had every tape from any artist signed to Puff. I used to sneak in her room when she wasn't there and listen to Biggie's Born Again album. At that time it was just words that rhymed to me, but as I got older I started to put things in the proper perspective as far as understanding the music and the culture.
Jason Bourne: What was it about the genre that attracted you ?
Macc: I listen to a lot of different genres from Pop to Reggae, Jazz, and Blues but Hip Hop is my first love. My brand of music is a collection of influences from all those mentioned, but Hip Hop just grabbed me. It has become my greatest form of expression
Jason Bourne: Who are some of your favorite artists ?
Macc: Some of my favorite artists include Jadakiss, Jay Z, Fabolous, Lil Wayne; I'm a 90's baby I grew up on Wu Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, Ruff Ryders, The Lost Boyz, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
Jason Bourne: Have you done any shows in recent times ?
Macc: My plan is to do a lot of shows in the future. Right now I have been focused on the music, I wanna make sure that I am giving people the quality that they deserve. I thank the promoters who have been reaching out and offering opportunities. I am building my brand and developing my craft. I am not trying to fit in, I am expressing myself and sharing my life with my audience.
Jason Bourne: What's your preference, recording booth or hitting the stage ?
Macc: I have a lot of passion for the music. I prefer hitting the stage. The energy is unexplainable. The Studio is my second home, but the stage is where you get to know yourself and the effect that your music has on everybody. I also appreciate the networking opportunity that comes along with doing shows.
Jason Bourne: Who are some of the people involved in your grind as an artist ?
Macc: My family is definitely supportive of my grind. Everyone shows me a lot of love and they want the best for me. My father has always just reminded me of the importance of education, because of the asset that it brings.
Jason Bourne: Why should a fan of Hip Hop support you ?
I feel as though fans of Hip Hop should support me because I am 100 % genuine, which is hard to find now a days. I don't rap about anything that I have not done. I feel like I have a story that a lot of people can relate to. I have been in the struggle, and responsibility has been on my back. I have lost relationships, friends, I have suffered through trust issues. Anyone can relate to that.
Jason Bourne: Any singles or mixtapes out ?
Macc: Hell Is Cold Vol 1 Will Release Within The First Two Weeks Of June
My Last Single Was Can't Tell Me Nothing; My Most Recent Single Would Have To Be Universe Off Of Hell Is Cold Vol 1
Jason Bourne: Where can the people get updates on your music and upcoming shows ?
Macc:
FB: gregory.walker.14
Instagram-Moneymakingmacc
Jason Bourne: Lastly, where do you see yourself in 5 years as an artists ?
Macc: In five years, I see myself on tour with a large following. What I have to keep in mind is that I am only 22 years old. I understand that this all takes time, so I am not rushing. I might not hit that mark in exactly 5 years but I feel like it can happen. Rome was not built in a day, with the right promotion and a good support team. My music will sell itself.
