Hip Hop On Deck Exclusive Interview With Kevin Anthony
1. How long have you been singing?
I've been singing for about 8-9 years!
2. What made you start singing and what do you feel you bring to the music industry?
I started singing because there was a natural tune in me...everything to me made sense if I made music to it. Something about performing and creating rhythms...drive me.
3. Who are some singers that you look up to and who are some singers you want to work with?
Right now...a lot of West coast artist such as (Eric Bellinger, Tee Flii, & Jonn Hart). I'd like to work with them. I have a similar sound and style & really love their song making skills.
4. You just dropped your debut EP called "The New Me" what is the concept behind this project?
A different style that I wasn't using before & more of an aggressive approach to life.
5. What make this EP different from all the other EP's that dropped this year?
The sound, the topics, the way I wrote them and laid the vocals down to them. There are minor and major details.
6. Who did you work with on this project and why did you pick them to work with?
I've used Beto Beats as the producer for all 3 records on my EP & Willie Green as my engineer. I don't have any featuring's included on the EP but I do have music videos out for some of the songs and I do have remixes with other artist that are not included in the official EP that is out.
7. You just dropped a video for "Pump Fake" what is the concept behind that video?
The concept is the 1st girl in the video is kind of feeling me but then dips on me....I end up getting with another girl who wont dip out on me...while in the end the 1st girl comes (or attempts) to come back but I catch on to her games and I don't bother with her anymore.
8. Why did you pick pump fake as your single and how do you feel it is doing in the marketplace?
I had a single out before "PumpFake" but because it's a 3 song EP I figured I would with time release all the tracks with music videos. I also plan on releasing a documentary titled "The New Me: Mini Series"
9. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself signed to a major label, established...still growing but definitely becoming a power house name in the industry.
