Bruza The General Debuts New Mixtape, Backtrap Trap; Features From Bump J, Rockie Fresh, & More
Bruza the General is one of Chicago’s most refreshing artists; but he didn’t start out that way. At an early age, Bruza, born Adam Wright, was diagnosed with a speech impediment which made it hard for him to speak without stammering. However, after gaining accolades from his peers during a 7th grade oral writing assignment, the South Shore neighborhood native unlocked a talent and a love for hip-hop which changed his life forever.
Citing Chicago-bred artists Bump J and Kanye West as his inspirations, the now 26-year-old has a lengthy track record under his belt. His ability to transcend the hip-hop inter-genre spectrum with his versatile lyrics and captivating anecdotes has made Bruza a rap phenomenon, securing collaborations with Red Café and Rockie Fresh, performances at SXSW and Atlanta’s A3C Festival as well as a songwriting credit on Kanye West’s 2008 album, Graduation, for the track “Big Brother.”
Prepping the release of his upcoming mixtape, “Backpack Trap,” in January 2015, the General’s lead single, “Monsta,” produced by League of Starz, the crew behind smash hits such as Rich Homie Quan’s “Walk Thru” and Tyga’s “Faded,” is currently in heavy rotation on Power 92 and WGCI 107.5. Vowing to always remain open and honest about his life with listeners, Bruza is confident his hustler’s spirit, witty punchlines and charismatic flows will carry him towards continued success and notoriety.
