About Hoodstar Chantz:

HoodStar Chantz, born Chantz Smith, hails from the historical Fifth Ward area, which is located on the North side of Houston, Texas.

At the early age of 9 it became evident greatness was soon to follow after Chantz's first performance at the local elementary school he attended, Betsey Ross Elementary. During that first performance was when Chantz came to realize his ability to impact a crowd materialized with little to no effort.

Throughout the years Chantz worked long hours at a neighborhood restaurant just long enough to earn funds to purchase his own studio equipment. During this time he also performed at local showcases and talent shows around the "hood" which is how he acquired the name "HoodStar".

Chantz grew up the son of a well known Houston DJ by the name of Lonnie Mack who was a pioneer for the first true generation of Houston Hip Hop. Growing up Chantz always exhibited a desire to pursue a career in Hip Hop, however it was his fathers untimely death that had an extreme impact on the drive and determination he put forth towards his craft. It was soon after that his first mixtape "First Chantz" evolved.

Rave reviews from "First Chantz", his following tapes "Lost Verses" and "Before The Fame" along with appearances on albums such as Slim Thug's "Serve & Collect III" and DJ Michael 5000 Watts "Highly Addictive" aided in Chantz receiving substantial buzz.

Chantz's most recent venture involves signing with Hip Hop Legend Scarface's label Face Mob Music and is sure to catapult his career to the next level.

Stay tuned for more to come from HoodStar Chantz.
