Born in El Paso, Texas to a military family, Taron Johnson is the oldest of three children. Being an Army brat, Taron had to move often. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as living in different countries allowed him to experience different cultures and develop an appreciation of music, fashion, art and other facets of expression.
In the late 90's, the military stationed Taron and his family back to El Paso. Although he was exposed to the gang culture and street life, he stayed focused, graduated high school and was accepted into Howard University in Washington, D.C. Upon graduating from Howard, he began work in Corporate America. Although his success in the corporate setting allowed him to travel and build upon his vast experiences, Taron’s love and desire to connect with people and express his self through music never waned. He released his EP, “My Tape” in May 2014 and says, “My Tape is my story. It’s the musical catalog to the many sides of me. The project gives listeners an intimate look into me. Good and bad…it’s just honesty. Honesty is something I haven’t been comfortable sharing with the world before this project. But this is my truth, my journey thus far, My Tape.”
