JaeWon (born Jimmy Skoog) coming out of Norrtalje, Sweden, made
his debut in 2008 with his EP "Some Kind Of Hero". The five songs on
the EP, especially the rock influenced title track, received a lot of
positive attention online and all proved that JaeWon didn't have any
plans on caring about the rules usually followed in hiphop music. After
writing and recording a full length album that unfortunately didn't get
to see the light of day for the same label that released "Some Kind Of
Hero", JaeWon decided to take matter into his own hands and continue the
personal and artistic development he had already started.
For the past year and a half, JaeWon and singer/songwriter Peter
Krafft (who runs High On Life Studios in Stockholm, Sweden and is also
the lead singer of Swedish band Royal Modesty) along with several known
and unknown producers, have been creating an adventurous soundscape
allowing JaeWon to unveil his story. The lyrics reflect all sides of his
journey - from the boy with a dream who in a Swedish smalltown did
everything to break the mold and walk his own path - to the focused,
hard-working young man he is today.
Enter "Hometown Hero" - a street album where JaeWon puts it all out
there to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with and that he won't
let anything, or anyone, come between him and his dream. The concept
behind "Hometown Hero" is heavily inspired by the world of superheroes, a
place where JaeWon has found motivation and a calm that he couldn't
find in the real world.
The first single "Lionheart" got a lot of positive feedback on
various blogs and websites and the second single "Long Live The King"
(with Pittsburgh producer team I.D Labs (consisting of E.Dan and Big
Jerm, who did most of the producing on Wiz Khalifa's "Rolling Papers"
and Mac Miller's "Blue Slide Park") got 20000 views on Youtube alone in
just over a week after its release
